4 September 2010: The Refinements @ Folkestone Ska Festival

About Hywel

I'm an experienced semi-pro sax player, based in North London, always looking out for teaching opportunities and gigs.

I've being playing sax for over 12 years, having got Honours in my Jazz Grade 8 in 2003, and I play music of all kinds: Jazz, Blues, R'n'B, Swing, Hip-Hop, Funk, Choral, Soul, Drum and Bass, Motown, Ska, Classical, Minimalist, Soul, Latin and Folk.

I've shared a stage with the likes of Joss Stone, Will Todd, Scott Stroman and Benn Clatworthy, and I've studied with Ray Beavis, Kathy Stobart and Jean Toussaint.

I play a Selmer III alto, a P. Mauriat 66R tenor and an AKAI EWI 4000s, and have been influenced by the music of Kenny Garrett, Miles Davis, Steve Reich, Michael Brecker, Courtney Pine, David Sanborn, Soulive, Tower of Power, James Brown, Michael Brecker and many others.

Nameless 4-piece specialising in old-school Funk.
